Uber, taxi or private car from Montréal airport?
From Montréal-Trudeau (YUL) to downtown, a taxi is a flat $49.45 by day ($56.70 at night), Uber's own route page shows about $116 for Uber Black and $129 for Uber Black SUV with prices that move with demand, and the airport's walk-up limousine desk starts at $85 for a sedan. A pre-booked private chauffeur costs more than a taxi but is the only option where the car, the driver and the price are settled before you land.
The four ways out, side by side
- Taxi: door 23, arrivals level. Flat fare to downtown, $49.45 from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. and $56.70 overnight; metered anywhere else. No booking, sometimes a line. ADM

When Uber or a taxi is the right call
- You're travelling light, alone or as a couple, in the middle of the day.
- Your plans may change and you don't want to commit to a time.
- You're going downtown, where the taxi fare is flat and predictable.
When a pre-booked car is worth it
- Surge times: Friday evenings, holidays, Grand Prix week and big storms are when app prices climb and cars are scarce.
- Four or more people, or lots of bags: a standard taxi or UberX won't take it; an SUV will, in one vehicle.
- Late landings and early departures: a confirmed booking beats hoping a car is free at 1 a.m. or 4 a.m.
- Going beyond downtown: taxis switch to the meter outside the downtown zone; a quoted price for Laval, the South Shore, Tremblant or Ottawa doesn't move.
- Business travel: one invoice and a known driver instead of a different car each time.
